One day the young
shepherd boy named David went to visit his brothers who were soldiers in King
Saul's army. The King was having a lot of trouble. You see, the Philistine
army had a giant called Goliath. Every day, Goliath would stand up and in a
loud voice, challenge King Saul to send a man to fight him. Everyone in King
Saul's army was afraid to fight Goliath. When David heard this, he said he
would fight the giant. David knew in his heart that God would help him. |

When Goliath saw David, he laughed because he wasn't big or strong enough to wear armour and carry a sword like a real soldier. Young David wasn't afraid. He picked up five stones from the stream and put one of them in his sling. |

As the giant came closer,
God's little soldier flung the stone at Goliath. The stone hit Goliath
between his eyes. |

Down went the giant
Goliath. King Saul and all the Israelites were very happy. Remember, David
trusted God and God helped David win. |
