King Nebuchadnezzar made
a very big statue of gold and ordered everyone to worship it. The people who
did not bow down to the idol would be thrown into a fire. Almost everyone was
afraid and bowed down to the idol. |

|
Now there were three men,
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who loved God very much. They refused to bow
down to the golden idol. They only worshipped the true God of Abraham and
Isaac. The King became very angry and had all three of them tied up and
thrown into the middle of the fiery furnace. |

|
After a while, the King
looked into the fire. He saw not three, but four men in the fire. He was even
more amazed to see them walking around in the fire, without being hurt. The
Bible tells us that the fourth person was the Son of God, Jesus. He came to
protect them for their faithfulness and trust in the Lord. |

King Nebuchadnezzar was
very surprised and called them to come out of the fire. Not even a hair on
their bodies was burnt. The King said that only the true God could save
someone from the furnace. He ordered that no-one say anything bad about the
God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. |
