One of the books in the Bible is called "Esther". Esther was a beautiful and brave girl who saved the lives of all the Jewish people. Esther's mother and father were dead and she was raised by a kind cousin named Mordecai. One day King Ahasuerus fell in love with Esther and made her his Queen. The King was not a Jew and did not know that Esther was a Jew.

Haman, the Chief over all the Princes in the land was a very bad man. Esther's cousin, Mordecai, refused to bow down to Haman when he passed by and Haman became very angry with him. The wicked Haman told King Ahasuerus the Jews were disobedient to the King. Haman told the King that they should kill all the Jews. Because of Haman, all the Jews, even the women and children, were going to be killed. When Esther heard about the plan she asked all the Jews in the city to fast and ask God to help them.

The brave Queen arranged to have supper with the King and the evil Haman. The King loved Ester and told her he would do anything for her. So, she asked the king to save her life and the lives of her people. The King asked Esther who wanted to kill her and her people. She told him it was Haman. The King was very angry with Haman.

One of the palace servants told the King that Haman built gallows where he planned to hang Mordecai. The King was even more angry because Mordecai had once saved his life. He ordered that Haman, not Mordecai, should be hanged on the gallows Haman built. Isn't it wonderful that God would use a Jewish orphan girl to save the lives of His people?
