When God had created the
world and all living things, He made a man of flesh, called Adam. God allowed
Adam to live in a most beautiful garden, called Eden. God was very happy with
all He had created. The garden was beautiful. There was no sin, no sickness
and no death. Because there was no sin, Adam could be with God and talk to
God. |

|
But Adam was lonely, so
God took one of Adam's ribs and made a wife for him. Her name was Eve and she
was to be his helper. There were two trees in the middle of the garden; the
tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God told them not
to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because they would die. |

A beast, called a
serpent, also lived in the garden. The Devil came and lived in the serpent
and when he saw Eve walking alone through the garden, he spoke to her. Eve
should have run home to her husband but instead, she stayed and talked to the
stranger. The serpent was very clever. He lied to Eve and told her she could
eat of the forbidden tree and not die. This is how sin came in to the world.
Eve believed the Devil, instead of God. |

We are tempted when other
people try to trick us, into believing and doing the wrong things. Jesus says
we should pray to our Father in Heaven to keep us from being tempted. The
Bible also tells us that sin happens when we don't believe God. We need to be
careful of people who keep telling us things that are different from what God
tells us in the Bible. |

Eve's sin brought death
and sickness into the world. Because God hates sin, He had to put Adam and
Eve out of the Garden of Eden. From that day on, Adam and Eve had to work
very hard. God made the earth bring forth thorns. He also made the evil
serpent to forever crawl on his belly, like a snake. |
